It’s finally the Summer, but before we go on our Holidays, jetting off to sunnier climates or indulging in some well earned R&R lets look back at the clubs’ achievements since the Regional BYC’s
Tomas Kradic must have now an extension to his house with the amount of medals he has won while at SCFC. While representing Slovakia at the Paris Veteran Criterium tournament and the European veterans fencing Championships he also found time to gain a Bronze at the Wenlock Olympic Individual Epee Championships, a Silver at the Cambridge Open Air Epee and a Silver Cardiff Open in Epee.

Not to be outdone old Hand and SCFC Veteran Charles Benke joined Tomas at the Cardiff open to win a Bronze at Epee.

Meanwhile Kinga after some suitable heroics at the National BYC’s has developed the ability to grind her opponents down and coming back from behind. This new found determination won her a Silver at the Mercia Open.

Melissa after winning a Bronze at the regional BYC’s decided to have a go at Epee and gained a Bronze at the Bromsgrove prep Epee (Years 3 & 4). Due to her dedication and continuous improvement the committee decided to award her the SCFC Tunnicliffe Technical Trophy. This is not awarded for medals or trophies won but for the U14 that has shown most consistent technical improvement in the club whose work ethic raises everyone’s game.

Lastly Tomasz Losinski who fences Sabre (should that not be cutlass?) for SCFC won Gold at the Royal Navy Fencing Championships this year. The Royal Navy lists its service champions from 1904, so with the exception of Christopher Walker who won Public Schools Junior Foils Championships winner (1959), this is one of SCFC most venerable gongs from the previous century/Millenium. Well done Tomasz!!!
